This 1-day course is intended for those already in the apparel/textile sector, those intending to enter the industry, and for those who wish to refresh or learn more about commercial textile applications and the suitability of materials for purpose.

Course presenter: Colleen Ahalt-Eagle

The course will be presented by Colleen Ahalt-Eagle, a material and colour management expert with over 20 years’ industry experience with Kathmandu, Reebok, Hanes, Target and JC Penney.

Course content:
This course will help answer questions that arise in the sourcing of factories and subsequent negotiations including material costs and quality assurances. It will explain how communication styles with factories differ from country to country and offer some tips on how to assist in maintaining good communication links and how to avoid unwanted 'surprises' at the point of delivery. We will provide an overview of the raw materials supply chain and how this impacts on the end product.

We will discuss the importance of creating cost sheets to ensure that you and the factory both profit from the relationship and are clear on all the relevant cost components. We will also cover the topical subject of sustainability and how it is factored into products in terms of materials and process selection and how to share this knowledge with marketing colleagues in order to accurately promote the 'sustainability story'. The course aims to provide relevant and practical applications for all in attendance. We aim to make it a fun and informative day for everyone.
