Be part of the Canterbury Film Society 60th Anniversary Season!

This season-opening free event (koha welcome) is open to the public and features a film shown during our very first season in 1958. Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine/bubbly/soda and nibbles.

In "The Blue Angel" Marlene Dietrich stars as showgirl Lola, the main attraction at The Blue Angel nightclub. When dour Professor Emmanuel Rath (silent film leading man Emil Jannings) discovers his pupils mooning over saucy postcards of the cabaret star, he is enraged by their depravity.

Visiting the club to denounce its louche activities, Professor Rath too is seduced by Lola’s charms, and in turn compromises his own standing.
