Pretty, kitschy, cute! Including babies and beauties, Scarlet O'Hara, some Shirley Temples, Miss Revlon and a set of famous quintuplets, is a sample of dolls antique and vintage dolls dating from the 1880's to the 1960's currently on display at historic Alberton.

Dolled up in designer dresses or in hand-knitted outfits and crammed into the "Collector’s Cabinet" in the ballroom, these belong to Auckland collector Karen Staniland. Karen’s lifelong love of dolls began with a much cherished pink plastic Kewpie given to her as a toddler (pictured). She now has over 300 dolls as well as miniatures and teddy bears.

To learn more about collecting and restoring antique and vintage dolls join us for an informal talk and afternoon tea on Sunday 24 June at 1:30pm. Karen will also bring more dolls to show & tell, some of which will be for sale. All dolls and teddies welcome!

The display runs from 24 May - 26 August. Both the display and talk are free with regular admission (adults $10, children and Heritage New Zealand members free). No booking required.
