Sir David Moxon KNZM will present a lecture on The Inter Faith Struggle Against Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Today.

Over 30 million people are being enslaved today.
Pope Francis and Archbishop Justin Welby agreed in June 2013 to collaborate with people of goodwill and faith communities throughout the world to seek an end to modern slavery and human trafficking. There have been many efforts by many groups over many years, but the solidarity of faith communities adds a new movement of advocacy, compassion and prevention that can make a significant difference.

In 2014 global faith leaders signed a common declaration with Pope Francis in Rome, calling slavery a crime against humanity. This declaration is now being referenced and applied in many parts of the world. In Aotearoa New Zealand, new intiatives are also emerging.
