Villani Piano Quartet
Marko Pop Ristov (violin); Emma Dann (viola);
Sarah Spence (cello); Flavio Villani (piano)
Beethoven - Piano Quartet in Eb Major; Vasks - Piano Quartet (Preludio & Danze);
Brahms - Piano Quartet in G Minor

The Beethoven and Brahms works are top ten favourites but the Vasks I am keen to know, as his violin concerto is a commanding revelation of the spiritual in music.
The Villani Piano Quartet was formed at the end of 2015 in Auckland and is a dynamic new ensemble for the Chamber Music scene. With both local and international experience the quartet has come together with a drive to present the unique richness of the Piano Quartet genre.
The Villani Piano Quartet has already received critical acclaim throughout the North Island in a collaborative tour for Chamber Music New Zealand.
You may remember Flavio Villani was the pianist featured in the film Crossing Rachmaninoff which premiered in the NZ International Film Festival in 2015 in Christchurch.

Christopher’s Classics
The Christopher’s Classics programme, founded by Christopher Marshall, has become a mainstay of the Christchurch chamber music scene, showcasing some of New Zealand’s finest musicians. Following the 19 April concert, the 2018 series features the Behn String Quartet (1 May), New Zealand String Quartet with cellist Serenity Thurlow (23 August), pianist Richard Mapp (13 September), and NZ Barok with cellist James Bush (16 October).
