The Wanaka Concert Society starts the year off with a bang - violinist Natalia Lomeiko is returning to Wanaka on Sunday 25 February, again with pianist Kirsten Robertson! Those of us who went to their concert in 2016 were amazed by Natalia's virtuoso performance.

We gave Natalia and Kirsten such a good time in Wanaka that Natalia asked if she could come back! Natalia will be in New Zealand to perform with the Christchurch Symphony and will come to us after that.

Hailed by Lord Menuhin as “one of the most brilliant of our younger violinists”, Natalia Lomeiko has already established herself as a versatile internationally renowned violinist and as a Professor at the Royal College of Music.. Having won numerous awards and prizes in Tchaikovsky, Menuhin, Stradivari and Tibor Varga International Violin Competitions, in the year 2000 she became Gold medalist and 1st Prize winner of “Premio Paganini”, and won first prize in the Michael Hill International Violin Competition.

Kirsten Robertson (née Simpson) was born in Christchurch, New Zealand. She graduated from the University of Canterbury with an MMus in performance piano, studying with Diedre Irons. Kirsten has performed with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Dame Malvina Major, Sir Howard Morrison, Anna Leese, Hayley Westenra and violinists Yuri Zhislin and Ben Morrison as well as Natalia Lomeiko. Kirsten currently works regularly with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra as Principal Keyboard and is currently an Artist Teacher and Staff Accompanist at the New Zealand School of Music.

The programme is :
Debussy Sonata for violin and piano
Ysaye Sonata no.4 for violin solo
Strauss Sonata
Brahms Scherzo from FAE Sonata

A concert not to be missed!
