Get your hands dirty to make a real difference to NZ wildlife this Conservation Week!

Join us at Rotokare Scenic Reserve, Taranaki's only pest-free sanctuary, for our Volunteer Open Day, where families and friends gather to work together to preserve the bush for our wonderful plants and animals!

- Sturdy footwear
- A small backpack with drinks and snacks
- Your best Sunday smile!

We'll provide lunch and friendly company in return for your hard work and support!

There's something for everyone, so come help out with:
Line-clearing--explore the depths of the bush and get familiar with Rotokare's hills! Take up a pair of loppers to tidy up our management lines!

Earth-ramping along the Fence--help us keep out diggers (dogs/bunnies/hedgehogs) by fortifying our fence skirt with dirt! Groups will walk to the far end of the reserve and fill in soil along the bottom edge of the fence!

Track improvement--help us make the track durable by lifting bits of our boardwalk onto timber blocks off the wet squishy ground; the trampers will be thankful!

Hihi monitoring--for the "bird" people! Walk down our lines and help us survey beautiful stitchbirds (Hihi) in our reserve!

Trap-checking and veggie trimming for those who prefer easier tasks! We'll pick a couple to do based on how many people we've got! But most importantly, enjoy the Rotokare environs full of tieke (saddleback), toutouwai (robins), miromiro (tomtits), kereru (wood pigeons), korimako (bellbirds), tui, pukeko, and other native species!
