Black Sheep Farm, Country Homestead B&B is delighted to announce their next House Concert., The “Villani Piano Quartet”.

It’s happening! At last years piano and movie concert we wanted to hear more! Flavio talked about bringing the quartet to Waipu and we are delighted to welcome these professional musicians to our Home.

Musicians playing some of the world's finest music together as a Quartet require great skill and professionalism. Without a conductor, four very different instruments each with an intense variation of the story to tell, could be a recipe for disaster. Come and watch these talented musicians of the Villani Quartet magically weave the music together.

In European classical music, Piano Quartet denotes a chamber music composition for piano and three other string instruments, here we have violin, viola and cello. With tension, balance, grace and ultimate enthralling beauty, they are sure to delight you in the intimate Grand Lounge of the Country Homestead.

Flavio Villani (the pianist featured in the film “Crossing Rachmaninoff”) who performed at Country Homestead, Black Sheep Farm last May is returning with his Quartet, that has been playing together since 2015. The Villani Piano Quartet is the result of previous collaborations between the four players in various combinations.

After years of studying and performing in Europe, including gaining their Masters in Chamber Music, Sarah Spence and Marko Pop Ristov moved to Auckland where they met playing as principals with the newly formed "Wairua Sinfonietta". They have joined forces with established Auckland musicians Flavio Villani and Helen Bevin to create the Quartet.

With home and international experience, the Villani Piano Quartet has come together with a drive to present the unique richness of the piano quartet experience and to promote chamber music to audiences of all ages. The Piano Quartet’s inaugural year saw the group perform to critical acclaim in the main centres of the North Island from Kerikeri to Wellington in collaboration with Chamber Music New Zealand, as well as build audiences at home in Auckland.

For 2018, through collaborative work, the Villani Piano Quartet commits to bringing new and exciting repertoire to the stage, as well as newly converted music lovers to the auditorium.

This quartet with their wide international experience show impressive clarity and expression in their playing with a superb balance between the 4 musicians.

This promises to be a unique opportunity to experience a high calibre Quartet in an intimate location. Don’t miss out!!!
