Hobsonville Point's very own Environment champions 'Eco Point' invite you to take a tour of our local Waste and Recycling Centre in Henderson. A bus will take you to and from Hobsonville Point to The Concourse.

See materials being diverted from landfill, visit the hazardous waste collection area and learn about the products that are harmful to the environment, and how they are sorted and disposed of. Tour the Centre to see the volume and types of waste, plus the initiatives to recover resources and help reduce Auckland to zero waste by 2040.

You will also take part in a fun session at the Zero Waste Zone to learn ways to reduce your household waste. The Zero Waste Zone is an exciting, interactive centre that showcases ways to repurpose and rethink waste. Visitors can wander the experience trail, which is built completely from waste materials that have been given a second life. Here you can see how nature makes no waste, get close up to worms and learn the basics of worm farming, composting and Bokashi.

Important: Wear sturdy closed shoes and warm comfortable outdoor clothes, including a rain jacket. Bring snacks and lunch. There's a nice deck and garden, and tea and coffee is provided. There's also a shop - 'Tipping Point', so bring your pocket money!

Children are welcome and will enjoy the trip, but supervision is parents responsibility.

The bus will leave from Hobsonville Point Primary School parking bay, 18 De Havilland Road at 9am sharp.

Limited number of seats available so get booking!
