The Māori Side Steps headline Waitangi Day in Dowse Square with their side splitting humour and quality showband-style singing.

Waitangi Day awesomeness continues with Israel Starr, a producer, beat maker, singer, DJ/MC creating hip hop, jungle, reggae and dancehall. 2017 saw him awarded the Best Roots album at the NZ Music Awards & Waiata Maori Music Awards.

Te Kahu Rolleston joins us for some spoken word poetry. Te Kahu is a former winner of the National Poetry Slam Competition and has performed at various events all over the country, spreading messages that are dear to him.

Local duo, Lani and Nate (Nudge), will play as well as lead the Whanau Ora Dancefit lineup.

- TUMA taiaha, Māori martial arts, will open up the day's festivities
- Hula Active will get your hips rocking and rolling
- Hear some beautiful Taonga Puoro with Rikki Porter-Samuels
- Lani and Nate (Nudge) will entertain us with their soulful tunes
- Whanau Ora Dance Fit will get you on your feet!

- The Māori Side Steps will finish of the day with their special brand of hearty, quirky and distinctly Māori humour

- Get crafty with Poi making and raranga (weaving) workshops
- Play games in te reo with first time speakers or those more fluent – suits all levels, no need to be shy!

Bring a bottle and help yourself to fresh spring water. There will be good food on sale, shade and plenty of free kids' activities for a great whānau day out.
