The Tertiary Education Union's Victoria University of Wellington Branch is celebrating 125 years of Women's Suffrage in New Zealand by raising funds for Women's Refuge and Te Whare Rokiroki.

About the Film:
War Stories Our Mothers Never Told Us (dir. Gaylene Preston, 1995)

"Seven New Zealand women tell the untold stories of their lives during the Second World War. One at a time, with minimum editorial interruption, seven elderly women fact the camera and speak about the impact of the war on their lives. There are newsreel clips and vivid contributions from the storytellers’ photo albums. But what renders these War Stories enthralling is the more fundamental allure of revelation stacked upon revelation. Tales that lead us with such plain assurance to the storyteller’s heartfelt truth make spellbound children of us all."

About the Event:
Doors open at 5.30pm. Nibbles and a selection of non-alcoholic drinks are included in the ticket price; a cash bar will be available for alcoholic drinks. Event begins at 6.15pm with a short opening address from MP Kiri Allan prior to the movie (94 mins).
