Art meets wine in Tasman vineyard.

The public will get a rare opportunity to combine wine tasting with art just before Christmas when Tasman’s Blackenbrook vineyard showcases its wines alongside a stunning photography exhibition.

Local photographer and scientist Ruth Bollongino first met Blackenbrook’s owners, Daniel and Ursula Schwarzenbach, a few years ago when Ruth was writing an article about the winemakers for a German publication.

A friendship blossomed and now they are combining art and wine in an exhibition of Ruth’s photographs called “Wild in the Woods”. Ruth says the exhibition reflects a personal and intimate perspective on New Zealand’s wilderness.

“The photos take the viewer on a journey to experience the many faces of nature and an often intangible atmosphere that seems to be out of this world. These photos are about my love for this area and the dreamy fairytale feel I get when I’m in the New Zealand bush,” says Ruth.

Ruth has many strings to her bow. Not only is she an accomplished photographer with Fernphotos but she is also a scientist, working with local conservation project Project Janszoon in the Abel Tasman National Park.

The Schwarzenbach family open the doors to their Blackenbrook vineyard only a few times per year, so this is one of the rare occasions the public can taste their award winning wines and stock up on some last minute wine and art for Christmas.
