Come celebrate World Wetlands Day at Rakatu Wetlands! Explore this unique environment and discover the what makes wetlands so important.

Located on the floodplain of the Lower Waiau River, the Rakatu Wetlands is Waiau Fisheries & Wildlife Habitat Enhancement Trust's most ambitious project; creating an ecologically sustainable wetland ecosystem.

11 am - 12.30 pm: Guided Walk
Learn about the birds, plants and aquatic life that inhabit the Rakatu Wetlands as you are guided around the wetland's walking tracks

12.30-1.30 pm: BBQ Lunch
Enjoy a classic sausage sizzle while taking in the beautiful wetland surroundings.

1.30 onwards: Planting Bee
Help plant natives to encourage more wildlife to the wetlands and further enrich this beautiful environment.

All ages welcome!

Please bring: sturdy footwear, hat, sunblock, lunch, a raincoat if necessary and a gold coin donation.
