Two musical acts, two new CD’s, two summer tours, one night in Auckland.
You are warmly welcomed to join in to a night of prodigious music and entertainment in celebration of a conjoined CD release show. Cricket Farm’s way of combining song writing craft, gentle instrumentation and delicate harmonies in an acoustic and warm sound is something very special. Zarek, back in NZ after two years of playing in Europe is now bringing his new CD to start the release tour where it all began - Home! His one man band of strings has picked up some new tricks and is as charming as ever. Come and enjoy the worlds universal language, music!

Zarek Silberschmidt:
characterised by audiences and colleagues alike as a chameleon within his articulation of acoustic guitar performance. Stylistically defined as remarkably versatile, some would go as far to state, a natural born performer. Zarek’s unique dexterity in the art of shape shifting sounds has been described as simply outstanding by listeners. A spectrum of techniques mastered through a vast comprehension of genre specific qualities, grants his ability to seamlessly accommodate to each individual performance. With cultural ties from one end of the world to the other, Zarek remains connected to his humble beginnings in Aotearoa (New Zealand). The cultural mix of his antipodean upbringing continues to fuel his passion for exploring musical styles from around the globe.

Leaving New Zealand in 2015 after graduating a Bachelor of Musical Arts, Zarek moved to Switzerland and began to build his career in Europe. He has played several international festivals with some of the highlights being the ‘Swing In The Wind Jazz Festival’ (Estavayer-le-Lac 2016 & 2017) ‘Basel Plucks’ (Basel 2017) and the ‘Contemporary Architecture and Music Festival’ (Basel 2017). These festivals have hosted greats from various disciplines such as Biréli Lagrène, Fred Frith and Sylvain Luc.

Cricket Farm:
Cricket Farm are Joel, Hayley and Sims. They tell the hard truth in a soft voice; music for hopeless romantic conspiracy theorists. Since forming in Auckland, New Zealand in 2016, Cricket Farm have performed shows at festivals, in bars, on the street and in folk clubs, including Borderline Music Festival, Kingsland Folk club, and Auckland Live. Multidisciplinary artist Hayley Robertson (vocal/ukulele/clarinet) brings her background in performing and screen arts to the stage, Simon Ross (vocal/acoustic guitar) draws on a wealth of experience playing in dub/reggae group Yebiisu, and punk bands the murderchord and We Dunno. Joel Vinsen (vocal/acoustic and electric guitar) draws influence from jazz and improvised music, and is involved in an eclectic range of projects, including afro/funk band Ijebu Pleasure Club, Spiral, and Panhandlers. together they are firm friends, whose dynamic and sound is both delightful and thought provoking.
