10x10 Auckland - Be Part of a Movement to Empower the Next Generation of Giving

10x10 is a volunteer-led organisation encouraging the next generation to get involved in philanthropy and it is now launching in New Zealand.

The organisation raises money for grassroots charities by hosting live crowdfunding ‘Dragon’s Den’ style events and now there will be one in Auckland on Thursday, November 28.

10x10 was started five years ago by a group of young people who wanted to make a difference. Since then, it has raised over $2 million for 200 different charities across Australia, UK, Hong Kong and the USA. And now a similar group of young philanthrophic Auckland professionals are bringing it to life here.

So how does it work...?

People can make a ‘Pledge’ of $100 donation (or more) to attend the event. Upon arrival, each attendee is given 'Charity Dollars' equal to the value of their 'Donation'.

After drinks and canapés, attendees are seated to watch the Dragon question the three chosen charities who pitch to you, the audience, their cause, model and impact.

Each attendee then decides directly who they want to give their 'Charity Dollars' to.

For the first Auckland event, the charities pitching for your support will be:

Brothers In Arms Mentoring - Brothers In Arms was established to reach the needs of at-risk and vulnerable young people, by providing them positive role models in the form of mentors. Its mission is to bring hope and life-changing connections to marginalised young people through quality, long term relationships.

I Got Your Back Pack - I Got Your Back Pack was set up to provide support to victims of domestic violence by donating backpacks filled with practical and essential items to Womens Refuge, Shine and Shakti safe houses nationwide. Packs are created to help those who often have to leave their homes with nothing but the clothes on their back.

Mothers Project - Mothers Project, part of the Who Did You Help Today Trust, was established to connect volunteer lawyers with imprisoned mothers to provide assistance to them. This includes helping them to maintain critical family ties, alleviate challenges, understand their rights and responsibilities, facilitate contact and ensure access to a better flow of information about their children's wellbeing.

It’s an unmissable night of drinks, networking, inspiring conversation, and charitable giving.
