The Music Innovation Trust of Taranaki is pleased to present the 2019 Hymn Lecture Series, based at the Taranaki Interim Cathedral Church of St Mary. Christopher J. Luke, Director of Music to Taranaki Community & Cathedral, will explore the nature as to how some of our best and much-loved hymns came into existence, looking at both the authors of the text and the composers of the music.

5 June - Glory to thee, my God, this night; 7 August - Abide with me; 2 October - Now thank we all our God; 4 December - Hark! the herald angels sing. Throughout the lecture, there will be musical examples of the hymn played and a chance to sing the hymn at the conclusion of the morning. Admission is by gold coin donation, supporting the ongoing musical life of the Cathedral.

The Series is proudly supported by the TSB Community Trust.
