2019 Rotorua Ekiden Relay

The 16th Anniversary Rotorua Ekiden Relay is back in 2019!

The biggest dress up party in running and walking is set to liven up Rotorua again on Saturday 12th October 2019, starting and finishing at the Rotorua Lakefront.

Get a group of four to six mates together, plan your costumes and dress up and run or walk your way around the Rotorua Marathon course and on to Rotorua Ekiden Glory!

Rotorua Ekiden is split in to six legs from 3.24kms to 9.27kms so there is a distance to suit everyone on your team. Decide who gets first dibs on either the short leg, or the picturesque leg around the Hamurana side of Lake Rotorua. Course details here: https://ekiden.co.nz/course-overview/

6:30 AM - 8:00 AM: Final registration and Event Pack pick up at Novotel Rotorua Lakeside
7:30 AM - 9:15 AM: Fancy Dress World Champs competition photo session at the start/finish area
8:30 AM: Entertainment begins on stage near the start/finish area
9:00 AM: Early morning spot prizes – be there or be square!
9:05 AM: Warm-up for walking teams in front of the stage
9:20 AM: Safety briefing for walking teams (and any team expecting to take longer than 6 hours) in front of the stage
9:30 AM: Walkers Start!
9:50 AM: Warm-up for fancy dress and running teams in front of the stage
10:05 AM: Safety briefing for fancy dress and running teams in front of the stage
10:15 AM: Fancy Dress World Champs Start!
10:30 AM: Runners Start!
5:00 PM: Prize giving on stage outside Clarke’s Bar, Novotel Rotorua Lakeside
5:45 PM - 11:00 PM: Rotorua Ekiden After Party (‘Blue and Black’ party dress theme) - includes DJ and live music from Stagepass
