Inspiring the next generation of pianists. #WNPC2019
The biennial Wallace National Piano Competition is a premiere platform for tomorrow’s musicians. Bringing together 15 of New Zealand’s best young pianists, adjudicator Charles Owen (Professor of Piano, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London) will select four Grand Finalists to compete for prizes totalling over $20,000.
This competition has inspired, surprised and delighted music enthusiasts since 2013.

Prizes: 1st Prize: $10,000, 2nd Prize $5,000, 3rd Prize $3,000, 4th Prize $1,500, Encouragement Award $500. Best Performance of a New Zealand Composition $500 (Donated by SOUNZ). Finalists may also be considered for a concerto performance plus other prizes to be announced.

Opening Ceremony, Preliminary Rounds, and Adjudicator's Masterclass: We suggest parking in the Owen G Glenn Building (OGGB). This is the main car park on the University of Auckland's City Campus. You can access the car park via Grafton Road, opposite Stanley Street.
Final Round: On site parking available.
There will be a professional photographer on site to capture unforgettable musical moments, which may be used by the Lewis Eady Charitable Trust to promote future events and other services. If you wish not to be photographed, please notify the Front of House staff or the Competition Committee prior to the event.
