Another spectacular family-friendly folk-fiesta is planned, you are invited to attend. The annual event is open to the public, for Cantabrians to come along, relax, share, perform and enjoy a festival of acoustic music.

The Easter event has an emphasis on promoting Canterbury local and upcoming musicians including: The Swan Sisters, Adam McGrath, Yurt Party, The Songsmiths, (Christchurch based artists), Polly and the Minstrel, Nelson and Fables, Auckland and International musicians - Himmerland, Denmark; Mairi Campbell, Scotland and Diane Ponzio, New York who are chosen to add a unique cultural and educational experience for festival attendees.

We honour folk music by embracing the evolution of folk while also staying true to the traditions of our forty four year festival. We are again fostering both the youth and ukulele elements which were well supported and appreciated last year, alongside the much loved traditions.

The new and old sit comfortably together. We hope that there is something on the programme that offers you a new challenge, that you try something new and widen your potential.

The music festival provides concerts performed by invited professional guest musicians, and also multiple opportunities for festival attendees to perform while using professional equipment, guided by a professional sound technician, and in front of an appreciative listening audience.

This provides encouragement and experience for younger Canterbury musicians and artists, and a lifetime experience for many small children, who are encouraged to perform.

The sound of the next folk generation – Youth band workshop
Over the years, we’ve worked with youth, who have blossomed in the youth band project, a supported opportunity to utilise creative initiative and get involved in music.
