The Kawerau King of the Mountain is an extreme race and not for the faint hearted!

The iconic mountain, Pūtauaki; is the most dramatic natural landmark throughout the sunny Eastern Bay of Plenty and this race has been held since the forming of the township of Kawerau in 1955.

Some of New Zealand's greatest adventure and mountain running athletes have plied their trade in this race but equally it poses a truly remarkable lifetime achievement for any worthy weekend warrior!

Entries open on May 1st and places are strictly limited to 200 competitors.

Included as part of race day there will be school relays and the curtain raiser 'Prince & Princess' race prior.
