We celebrate the songs of the Beatles and Paul McCartney with some of New Zealand’s finest artists covering their favourites from the Beatles and McCartney song catalogue.
The concert is a memorandum of Simon Sherry, Paul McCartney’s second cousin who lost his sight and subsequently very sadly his will to live. All monies raised from the event will go towards counselling and aid to those losing their sight from degenerative diseases. Proceeds will be split between the ‘Blind Foundation’ in New Zealand and ‘the Eye Fund’ in the UK (which was set up in Simon’s name to help people like him facing the onset of blindness).
Artists from an eclectic range of musical styles including the Classical, Folk to pop and rock bring their own interpretations of these great songs.
Featuring Sophie Morris (Soprano), Molly Devine (Soprano), The Broken Heartbreakers (Folk Duo), Bevan Gardiner (Singer-Songwriter) Ian Chapman’s Cosmic Jive Quartet (Cosmic rock band) The Moreporks (a combo band of iconic Dunedin Musicians) Ian Loughran (Poet) Brent Harpur (Cartoonist and Poet) and Julie Woods (Motivational speaker and ambassador for the NZ Blind Foundation)
