A Night of Jazz – Join the Invercargill City Big Band, Southland Youth Jazz Band, and special guests for a fantastic evening of jazz music at the Invercargill Repertory Theatre (Cnr Esk & Jed Sts).
The evening of entertainment will include a diverse range of classic jazz standards as well as modern pop and rock songs rearranged with a jazz feel. From Duke Ellington to The Black Keys – the programme will have you dancing in your seat!
The Invercargill City Big Band (ICBB, formerly named The Crazy Rhythm Big Band) is a Southland music institution, with a performance profile spanning four decades of festivals and concerts in Southland and throughout the South Island.
Originally, the band only had a small number of arrangements in their library but it has now accumulated more than 500 charts. The band has roughly 18 permanent members at any one time, ranging from school students to jazz enthusiasts with more than 50 years of performance experience.
The Southland Youth Jazz Band (SYJB) was formed in 2015 and features Southland's top young jazz musicians who share a passion, enjoyment for, and high level of skill in contemporary and classic jazz playing. The band have won multiple awards at the annual Southern Jam Youth Jazz Festival and taken part in a variety of Southland events including Matariki, the ILT Christmas Show, and the Southland Festival of the Arts. The band is packed full of energy, talent, and a wide variety of repertoire.

Doors open from 7.00pm (concert start time: 7.30pm).
A cash bar will be available and operating 30mins before the concert begins (7.00pm – 7.30pm) and during the intermission.
General admission seating – no allocated seating.
