A Taste of DIY Podcasting

Are you a podcast listener with a secret yearning to be on the other side of the microphone? Maybe you’ve heard about podcasts, but are wondering what the fuss is all about? Or have you always dreamed of being on radio, but never got the chance? In this ‘taster’ series of four ‘hands on’ workshops for beginners, the crew at Plains FM will introduce you to the engaging world of citizen media through podcasting and community access broadcasting.

You will gain an understanding of the medium of podcasting and community access radio and its important role in society, learn the basics of how to engage an audience, explore different styles of producing a podcast, and have a go at creating and producing your own short podcast in the Plains FM studios.

No previous experience of speaking or broadcasting needed – remember, everyone has a story to tell! Please note cost includes studio time and all equipment. Limited to 8 students.
