This is a story you may think you know; a grand classic born on the backs of gods and warriors.

New Zealand’s own master storyteller, Michael Hurst, delivers an epic performance in a brilliant and thrilling reimagining of Homer’s masterwork, written by powerhouse duo Lisa Peterson and Tony award-winning Denis O’Hare.

Our poet is joined on stage by rock maestro Shayne P Carter (Straitjacket Fits, Dimmer) playing an instinctive, real-time soundscape live on stage. Riffing off each other, the two create an unrivalled contemporary take on one of the greatest stories ever told.

An Iliad was first a smash-hit in the US and was most recently lauded on a Kiwi stage in Dunedin, winning three major awards for sound design, performance, and production of the year at the 2018 Dunedin Theatre Awards. Finally, this award-winning tale is coming to Auckland for a one-off season at the Herald Theatre.

Experience the passion and darkness of this spine-tingling tale depicted by two New Zealand legends.

“Homer’s masterpiece, flawlessly enacted by a master storyteller.” - Theatreview

"A mesmerising, moving and utterly engaging theatre experience." - The Star

“A not-to-be -missed production. It was show that was met with awe from its audience." - Pantograph Punch
