Sound Bites at Lunchtime is free outdoor entertainment presented by Hutt City Council as part of Summer in the Hutt activities.
Sound Bites celebrates Summer every Friday for the next eight weeks by featuring a local musicial lineup sponsored by Kingdom Music on High Street.
Each week a solo artist will perform between 12-2pm at the green on Andrews Avenue. Brown bag it or stop by a nearby cafe and grab a bean bag or park bench to sit eat and enjoy the sounds of summer, some sunshine and food!
Andrew London has spent 40 years carving a niche in the New Zealand music scene as a guitarist and vocalist in rock bands, jazz trios, stage shows and as a soloist, appearing regularly on Nationwide television, and on National Radio. The Andrew London trio have collectively amassed a back catalogue of over 20 recorded albums, garnering Tui nominations and rave reviews in Downbeat USA, the World’s most widely read jazz magazine.
He is currently best-known as a writer of whimsical and satirical songs that affectionately satirise New Zealand society's obsessions and taboos. His musical collaborations Hot Club Sandwich,The Cattlestops, and The Andrew London trio have collectively amassed a back catalogue of over 20 recorded albums, garnering Tui nominations and rave reviews in Downbeat USA, the World’s most widely read jazz magazine.
These recordings have contributed to movie soundtracks, European CD compilations, a Correspondence School English Syllabus, and National Radio's 'Greatest Song Ever Written'.
His trio has played all over the South Pacific, including Australia and Norfolk Island, and is one of the very few musical acts to have performed in Saudi Arabia, where such activity is officially illegal.
Other artists such as Loose Jandal, Aaron Andis, and Andrew London feature in the last weeks of this Sound Bites season. Performing versions of music from Bruno Mars, Fleetwood Mac to originals. Music genres include Blues, Jazz, Funk Rock and Pop.
