Rotorua’s Dawn Service will take place on ANZAC Day (Thursday 25 April) at 5.45am. The service will be conducted by Te Arawa Māori Returned Services League Inc and take place at Ohinemutu.
5.45am: Gather at Ohinemutu
5.50am: Parade march to Muruika Soldiers’ Cemetery (by St Faith’s Church)
6.00am: Dawn Service begins with a mihi (welcome) from Te Arawa Māori Returned Services League
Prayers: Reverend Tom Poata
ANZAC Dedication followed by hymn and guest speaker.
The Dawn Service is expected to conclude at approximately 6.30am.
Following the Dawn Service the ANZAC Day Parade will depart from Memorial Drive at 9am, and make its way to the Sportsdrome (Queen’s Drive, Government Gardens) where Rotorua’s Civic Memorial Service will begin at 9.30am.
ANZAC Day (Thursday 25 April) Road closures:
*Memorial Drive (at the lakefront) and Queens Drive will be closed from 8am to 10am.
*People driving to the Sportsdrome are encouraged to avoid the Princes Gate entrance to Government Gardens and instead enter past Polynesian Spa and take the road behind Rotorua Museum and the Energy Events Centre, or arrive before 9am.
