Zumba with Jo

Aqua Zumba® combines some of the traditional elements of aqua fitness classes with upbeat, Latin-infused dance moves and music.

Aqua Zumba® is an excellent therapy for people who suffer from joint problems (particularly if you've had hip or knee replacement surgery, or suffer from arthritis). Several studies have proven that Aqua Zumba can reduce inflammation in the joints, as the hydrostatic pressure from the water acts like a massage. The pressure is therefore taken off your knees, hips and ankles.

Water creates natural resistance, which means every step is challenging. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat.

As well as being an excellent form of low impact strength training, Aqua Zumba is also a great stress-busting exercise for people suffering from anxiety and mood disorders. The water pressure can improve your heart health by increasing the blood circulation and reducing the resting heart rate.

Benefits:
- Builds muscle strength with gentle resistance from the water
- Increases flexibility and improve heart and lung function
- Relieves joint pain as well as symptoms of arthritis
- Helps with balance and reduce the risk of injury from falls
- Builds endurance
- Burns calories
- Provides a sense of accomplishment

Keep in mind that your encouraged to follow along at your own pace—if you're not comfortable with a move or you can't give 100% during class, that's perfectly fine. Do what is safe for you. Taught by Licenced Instructor Jo Green, Aqua Zumba can be as high- or low-intensity as you make it.
