Art After Hours

  • Thu 25 Jul 2019, 6:00pm–10:00pm

Restrictions

All Ages

Grab your friends and head to Art After Hours – a special, one-off evening of food, drinks, art and entertainment inspired by our major exhibition, Frances Hodgkins: European Journeys.

Kick back in our pop-up Spanish courtyard with live music and dance performances featuring four-piece Latin band, Matecito; Maria Elena of Flamenco NZ; and Dancing with The Stars champion, Aaron Gilmore with Sonia Hems.

Listen to senior curator Mary Kisler give an illustrated talk on Frances Hodgkins’ travels through Spain and Ibiza, and discover how to quick-sketch with artist Tony McNeight or take part in a still-life drawing class with artist and tutor, Gerry Copas. Don’t miss choreographed dance performances inspired, too, by the artworks in the exhibition.

Indulge throughout the night with hearty eats and sweet treats from Jess’ Underground Kitchen and try out the bespoke cocktails available to purchase from our bar.

Art After Hours entry includes access to the ticketed exhibition Frances Hodgkins: European Journeys – which also features artwork by Picasso, Monet, Degas and more – and to all current Gallery exhibitions, including Guerrilla Girls: Reinventing the ‘F’ Word – Feminism! Before you leave, check out our limited-time Pop-Up Shop featuring the Frances Hodgkins Framed by Karen Walker range of garments and travel accessories.

Art After Hours is presented as part of Elemental AKL. This event is limited capacity and we recommend booking in advance.
