Calling all art lovers to join us for a Saturday morning tea and conversation about art as a commodity. So often, once you’ve bought something, it is taken for granted and becomes almost invisible. When you come across a new thing, it is easy to be charmed and feel the need to possess it. As a species bent on survival this makes sense.
Eat it now or you may regret leaving it. The thing not possessed is the missed opportunity that remains forever in one’s memory. But what would it be like if art wasn’t something to be owned but simply enjoyed? Perhaps everything would be seen freshly? Join local art historian Linda Hart as we examine art and ownership in a changing world and how artists are responding to the increasing pressures of commercialisation.
Morning tea included.
