In 55 years of commuter service on the Waitematā Harbour and excursions to the Hauraki Gulf and upper harbour, Toroa carried seventy million passengers in all, with many incidents and excitements along the way.
Hear the stories of owners, builders, skippers, engineers, stokers and passengers. Ladies and smokers; seat-hoggers, card-players and wharf-jumpers; poets, potters and Prime Ministers. Toroa’s latest journey to Henderson for restoration and return to the Waitematā.
Because of the nature of the restoration site, closed footwear must be worn and children must be supervised by adults.
Access to the ferry is by steep stairs; we regret that there is no wheelchair access to the ferry or the meeting room.
