Sponsored by the K'Road Business Association, Lynnie Howcroft and Elianna Gabriel present their second book about the new settlers that lived in Newton East under spaghetti junction.

The book 'Gertie and the Geese' explores the courage that the European settlers had to journey from their home to a new land that they knew little about. Gertie’s family is from Ireland and is known to be full of energy. She really, really wanted to be a part of the Newton Cadets but being a girl in the 1880’s restricted her to caring for the geese and doing her mother's chores.

Written for adults to explore with children (4-10 years) the history of Newton East from a child’s perspective in 1880.
