Storyteller - to be played by a younger actor/actress
The Storyteller needs to give an air of wisdom. A wise beyond their years quality. Will spend entire time onstage.

Red Riding Hood – female
Our heroine She’s young and innocent. Very sheltered character who going to need to face some tough decisions.

Grandmother – female
A strong-willed woman whose had enough of domestic servitude. She has an obvious love for Red Riding Hood but she’s taking over and no one will stop her.

The rest of the cast can be played as either a single character or 2-3 characters played by a single actor. All following characters can be played by male or female.

Mother
A homely woman. She doesn’t like to stir the pot. She’s not very outspoken. She believes a woman’s place is looking after the home and children.

Wolf
A condescending, overly masculine role. A definite predator.

Woodcutter
More brawn than brain. He’s not spoilt but he’s never been expected to anything related to ‘woman’s work’. A bit creepy.

The Witches (3 in total)
Mysterious woman who give the bitter truth. Representing all women and all the trials of women.

Rose Red
Strong, determined woman. Takes no ‘rubbish’. Vain.

Snow White
Looks are everything to this lady. She’s tough. Corporate.
