Auditions for The Premiere Season of Disorderly Conduct

A new drama written and directed by Nathan Hey.

Disorderly Conduct follows two long-time friends (nicknamed Hashtag and Void) after they’re court martialled from the military. In a bid to get enough money to pay for an expensive operation to save Hashtag’s son, they turn to crime.

Discovering that they are a natural at pulling off robberies, they raise the stakes by hitting a bank. After the robbery goes wrong, the team start to disagree on the best way out, and Hashtag and Void find themselves battling to stay alive.

Rehearsals: Tues and Thurs at 7pm and on Sun at 6pm
A readthrough will be on August 11. Rehearsals will be August/Sept.

Performances: Oct 2 to Oct 5: With a total of 5 performances. There is a 2pm Saturday matinee.

Character info:
(All ages are guidelines only. The play is set in and outside a bank and actors will need to perform with an American accent. All roles are physical.

Siren - 30s street-hardened woman. Gets off on the thrill of the robberies. Likes to play with the hostages and make everyone extra uncomfortable. Her job is principal crowd controller.

Void - Leader. Mid to late 30s. Calm criminal who’s highly trained. Ex-military. He has grudgingly taken on Siren as a late replacement, but has never worked with her. He is a thorough planner and is highly adaptive.

Hashtag - Weapon specialist. Demolition. Ex-military served with Void. Is in the crime game to raise cash for his/her sick son. Solid role that demands a physical and intimidating persona.

Flak - Crowd Control/ communications. Career communication specialist. Got into crime to fund his increasing drug habit. He vouched for Siren as had pulled a few jobs with her. This role could be played as a female.

LT Wayne Burns - Police commander. Competent but rather inexperienced. Late 40s-50s. He is surly and aggressive, wanting SWAT to end the situation.

Charlie Brook - FBI Specialist Negotiator. 30s-40s. Self-confident and authoritative. She has a disarming personality which helps with negotiating.

Grant Daniels - Bank manager - late 40s-50s. Self-entitled and selfish, Grant wants one thing throughout the play and that is out. This role could be played female.

Debbie Richman - Asst. bank manager - Age flexible. Caring, compassionate and mother of two. Worked for the bank for five years on the way up promotion wise. Debbie is a voice of reason and puts others first.

Mike/Swat Cop 2- Dual role. Married to Hostage Woman. Fairly young and relatively newly-wed. Still very much in love and are terrified of losing one another. SWAT cop that storms the bank at the end. Paralysed with the threats towards Rachel he crumbles but is secretly ashamed of how his wife would be perceiving him.

Rachel (Hostage) - Married to Hostage Man. Fairly young and relatively newlywed. Still very much in love and are terrified of losing one another. She finds her courage when Siren pushes her too far. Initially a timid character her arc shows her inner reliance and eventual survival instinct in her final scene.

Guard/SWAT Cop - Guard who is initially taken down in first stages of the robbery. Brave but helpless as was ambushed early on. Good role for a newcomer to the theatre, as few lines but lots on stage acting time.
