Have you wanted to learn the art of burlesque, the ba-da-boom of comic timing, or the knack of characterisation? Have you dreamed of getting up on stage, surrounded by feather fans and rhinestones while sashaying your way to burlesque stardom? Or have you just wanted to learn how to move and accentuate your best bits in a fun and frivolous environment?
Bambina Burlesque Academy is directed and taught by Lilly Loca, one of New Zealand's prolific burlesque and vaudeville personas. Crowned Supreme Grand Tease 2017, as well as holding many other awards and accolades under her sparkly suspender belt, she's best known for being a consummate mistress of disguise who is 'Putting the Va-Va-VOOM into Vaudeville'!
Lilly is here to teach you the skills to become a burlesque beauty, a veracious vaudevillian and more!
This course is the perfect course to start you on your way to sparkly stardom! Suitable for beginners from ages 18+ and any ability, you’ll learn about the art of the tease through a half day intensive, taught by Bambina Burlesque Academy Headmistress, Lilly Loca.
In this intensive, you’ll learn the following:
- The rich history of burlesque, along with the various different styles and inspirations
- How to accentuate and flaunt your best bits!
- Burlesque 101 - staple burlesque moves, glove peels and bowers
- Props & Costumes (oh the sparkles!)
- Burlesque and You - how to develop your burlesque persona + etiquette
- Basic character and stage presence
There will also be a chance for a Q&A at the end of the intensive.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION (please read below)
- Note that a minimum of four people will need to attend the event for it to go ahead. Limited to 12 people.
- Bookings are non-refundable (unless cancelled by Bambina Burlesque Academy, in which a full refund will be given) and non-transferable
- Please RSVP to the FB event in the website links above so Lilly can contact you if the need arises.
- We will be located in Studio 2 at Empire Studios - come through the door (which will be open) on the left hand side of the large garage door and Lilly will meet you there.
Attendees will need to bring along the following:
- Notebook & pen
- Water bottle
- Food
Attendees will need to wear:
- Comfortable, fitted clothing which will allow for you to move around but also show off your figure.
- Dance heels or medium sized heeled shoes (compulsory)
- A warm jumper for in between physical exercises
(Note: there will be a half hour break near the middle of the course for you to get lunch/coffee if need be)
Lilly will provide:
- 1x pair of gloves each*
- 1x vegan, cruelty free boa* (feel free to bring your own if you wish)
- Reference sheet of moves and information discussed in class
