Update: Due to unforeseen circumstances, US rap collective Migos are cancelling their upcoming Australia and New Zealand tour and so will no longer perform at 2019’s Bay Dreams: The Mount. Taking their slot at the now sold-out festivals are Harlem hip-hop's finest, Sheck Wes and one of the driving forces of Atlanta’s trap scene, Rich The Kid.

Bay Dreams has established itself as New Zealand's biggest festival, selling out year after year. This 2019, it is returning to its home of Mount Maunganui and and heading to Nelson for the first time. Both locations now boast two main stages for the first time.

One of the biggest names in music Cardi B is joining the 2019 line-up. It’s the first time that the US hip-hop superstar will be performing in New Zealand, and she’ll headline both Bay Dreams events. Cardi B joins an already talent-packed bill, which now includes Sheck Wes, Rich The Kid, Shapeshifter, Tash Sultana, Sticky Fingers, Peking Duk, $uicideboy$, Macky Gee, Pnau, Katchafire and more!

The award-winning, Grammy-nominated, Cardi B is at the top of her game. She is the first woman to have had five simultaneous Top 10 hits on the ‘Hot R’n’B/Hip-hop Songs Chart’. She also broke records, when her single ‘Bodak Yellow’ earned the coveted #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart for five consecutive weeks, making her the first female rapper, since Lauryn Hill in 1998, to reach number one without any accompanying acts.

‘Bodak Yellow’ has gone on to feature on countless ‘Best Of’ lists, including Rolling Stone, New York Times, Time, Billboard and Vanity Fair. The star was also recently named in the esteemed Forbes ‘30 Under 30’ list.

Cardi B’s inclusion at both Bay Dreams festivals undoubtedly makes for one of the most exciting line-ups in recent times.

“We are so excited to be bringing the hottest act in the world right now. It’s super exciting that it’s her first time in New Zealand and that she’s playing exclusively at Bay Dreams,” says promoter Pato Alvarez.

With more than 40,000 tickets to both events selling within the first week of going on sale, less than 30 percent of tickets are now available and punters will need to get in fast to avoid disappointment.

The warm-up parties in both locations are also proving popular, with only a small number of tickets left.

With a focus on world-class talent and international-standard production, Bay Dreams is without question one of the most popular events in the Kiwi music calendar. And now operating in both the North and South Islands, with a second main stage added for the North Island, promoters say they’ve been met with an overwhelmingly positive response.

“We are truly grateful for New Zealand getting behind these festivals in such a big way. We have watched this go from just an idea around a table, to becoming the country’s biggest event in just a few years,” says promoter Mitch Lowe.

“The support is what enables us to continue to push the boundaries. In 2019, we are stepping it up once again with massive production, including two main stages, the country’s biggest line-up and some new experiences brought to you by new partnerships. We look forward to creating memories with you all this summer.”
