Ben Hurley and Justine Smith have teamed up for a special one off show for Ara's new Orientation style event weeks. In this one off special show, they will split the bill with 40-ish minutes of blinding comedy each, making it the perfect night of stand up.

This is the ideal combination with Justine's perfectly pitched acerbic wit and Ben's... well... beard?

Grab your mates and get along to what promises to be a bloody stand-out-stand-up-show by two of our best and favourite comics. Not just for Ara Students this event is open to the public to come along and have an awesome time.

Justine Smith Bio:
Those who know Justine, or have seen her perform, will know she does not suffer fools gladly. Her charming and expressive performance takes her audience along the journey with her, while never far from a punch line or a subtle gag using the raise of an eyebrow.

This Christchurch girl made good, now residing in West Auckland, there’s not a lot that gets past Justine. If you were to try and define Justine as a lover or a fighter, you'd have to say both. She is capable of tearing strips off people on stage and then buying them a drink after the show.

Justine is recognized for her appearances on everything from the Comedy Gala and AotearoHA to her memorable appearances on TV3's After Hours and Funny Girls, as well as a regular panellist on TV3's 7 Days and a writer on Rhys Darby’s Short Poppies.

A leading light of New Zealand Comedy, Justine is just as comfortable in a theatre or a local bar in the country. Simply one of our best.

Ben Hurley Bio:
Star of hit TV3's 7 Days, Ben Hurley is one of the success stories of New Zealand standup comedy. Winner of the two biggest comedy awards in New Zealand - The 2004 Oddfellows Billy T award and the 2008 Fred Dagg award, Hurley is a headline act in his native NZ but also on the highly competitive UK circuit. In 2008 he supported Irish superstar Ed Byrne on a 70 day sellout tour of the UK and Ireland.

With a massive but hugely likeable stage presence, Hurley can win over even the toughest room. A sharp improvisational mind and well honed original material make Hurley a popular act with audiences and critics alike.

One of New Zealand's best travelled comedians. Ben has wowed audiences in 10 countries including Switzerland, Dubai, Spain, Australia, Singapore and Bahrain.
