Join the newly incorporated Business Whangaparaoa as we launch our local business support events, activities and membership for 2019 at a free event with keynote speaker Barbara Kendall CNZM, MBE helping you lay down the "Foundation for Success!"

Meet other local business owners and managers and find out more about what Business Whangaparaoa plans to support and grow your business and our local economy here on the beautiful Whangaparaoa Peninsula!

This event is free with limited spaces so make sure you register your interest early.

Business Whangaparaoa will be inviting you to be part of our plans for local economy growth for the Peninsula, to have your say and help us showcase our local community.

There will be a cash bar and free nibbles. With opportunities for local business networking and with our keynote speaker this will be an evening to ensure you have in your diaries.

The event will commence at 5.30pm with networking opportunities and our speaker from 6 pm. Hear what Barbara has learnt from her personal experience on how individuals, teams and businesses can lay down the foundation for success.

Barbara uses the S.U.C.C.E.S.S principles. State positively what you want, Uncover limiting beliefs, Connect with your core values, Consider consequences External conflicts, Self initiated strategy, See it visualisation.

Barbara moved to the coast 20 years ago to maximise the lifestyle and environment the coast has to offer. She is one of New Zealand’s legends in Sport. She competed in 5 Olympic Games in the sport of windsurfing, winning 3 Olympic Medals, including gold in 1992. She has won 11 World Championship medals over her career of 21 years. Barbara was awarded the New Zealand’s Sports woman of the year 4 times and been inducted into World Sailing and New Zealand’s Hall of Fame.

Over the last 12 years she has represented New Zealand, Athletes and Women within the International Olympic Committee on 13 different commissions, executive boards and working groups. Last year Barbara was the chef de mission to the most successful New Zealand Youth Olympic games team in Buenos Aries.

Barbara has been recognised for her contribution to sport with the New Zealand Sport Leadership Award in 2014. This year she was honoured with the Companion of the NZ order of merit to go with her MBE in 1993 Barbara is currently consulting and developing key talent within organisations, focusing on laying down the foundation for success. Barbara is also a non executive director on Arria, an artificial intelligence company that specialises in complex data sets and generating natural language reports.

“After travelling around the world for 30+ years and visiting many different countries and cities, to me, Whangaparaoa is still the best place in the world to live. I have loved living here, raising my teenage daughters at the local schools and enjoying everything the coast has to offer.”
