Join us on Saturday 18 May for an annual exhibition of fine musicianship from New Zealand’s best. The Celtic Inn Targe and Colin Craig Claidheamh Mòr (“Claymore”) competitions are set to again showcase local and national solo bagpiping talent at the highest level. You are warmly invited share in the renowned atmosphere brought by these special events.
Inaugurated in 1984, Claidheamh Mòr is an invitational competition whereby up to nine invitees are selected based on results attained during the 12 months prior. Later years brought the addition of the Celtic Inn Targe competition for the playing of Piobaireachd (“Pibroch”), the classical music of the Great Highland Bagpipe.
The Targe event commences at 9.10am, before 1.30pm brings the afternoon’s Claidheamh Mòr performances.
