Featuring from New York - Dick Oatts on Alto Saxophone with the New Zealand String Quartet and
Jazz Ensemble with Musical Director – Rodger Fox.

Jazz and Classical worlds find common ground.

Charlie Parker with Strings was an album by jazz musician Charlie Parker, released by Verve Records in January 1995. The sessions place Parker in the context of a small classical string section and a jazz rhythm section, rather than his standard bebop quintet. They were Parker's most popular sellers during his lifetime, and were admitted to the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1988.

Famed American alto-saxophonist Dick Oatts combines with a rhythm section, string quartet, two woodwind players under the musical direction of iconic kiwi jazz musician Rodger Fox will recreate this series of musical arrangements as well as adding new arrangements of “Parkers” Bebop era.

Guest Artist Dick Oatts is an international featured soloist best known as the lead alto player in the Thad Jones, Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra from the late '70s and still holds down that role in the present day incarnation the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra.

Oatts has accompanied such vocalists as Joe Williams, Sarah Vaughan. Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme, and Milton Nascimento. He has recorded solos for R&B artist, Luther Vandross and Everything but the Girl.
