Housebar is offering guests a taste of New Zealand with their new signature cheese and wine flights, a special pairing of award winning local cheeses lovingly combined with a selection of handpicked New Zealand drops from across the country. Guests are invited to knock back a few glasses as they devour some of the best cheeses this side of the globe. $35 for 3 cheeses and 3 glasses of red or white wine or better yet, share the goodness with a friend for $55 and enjoy 6 glasses of wine for just the two of you.

Whitestone Cheese Windsor Blue
A silky smooth creamy blue cheese with a soft buttery texture. It has a unique blue culture that dissects the rich curd and combines to produce a delicate flavour that intensifies with ageing. Paired with the citrus & lime aromas and crisp green apple finish of Amisfield Riesling, or with a fruit purity balanced with acidity and dusty tannins from a Craggy Range Syrah, both drops from Central Otago.

Special Reserve Gouda
A smooth textured semi hard cheese with subtle flavour. Special Reserve Gouda is lovingly made with whole milk using a washed curd method giving it a mild flavour and a creamy buttery texture. Paired with Ohinemuri Gewurztraminer from the Coromandel, a full bodied drop with perfumed aromas of ginger & lychee or with Hawkes Bay’s Redmetal Vineyards Merlot – Cabernet Franc, deeply coloured and full of dark ripe berry, plum, and liquorice flavours, and a subtle hint of oak.

Camembert Special Reserve
A classic soft textured cheese that is delightfully smooth and creamy with a delicate flavour, and hints of mushroom in every mouthful. Paired with the peach, honey & spice bouquet of Yealands Estate Gruner Veltliner from Awatere Valley or the floral notes & redcurrant aromas of Central Otago’s Saddleback Pinot Noir.
