Originally from Yorkshire, England, John Baxter is an artist, a photographer, poet, songwriter, musician, prop maker and furniture designer with a Diploma of Creative Industries.
John is one of the original team members of The Incubator Creative Hub from day one and has played a hugely valued role in growing the Arts Movement.
He is well as a respected contributor of photographs, articles and interviews to many local newspapers, magazines and online art forum ARTbop.
John has contributed successfully over the years to many group shows at the Incubator and other Galleries. Circles and Signs will be John’s first solo exhibition.
The body of work encompasses paintings from the last 3 years.
The context of the exhibition centres around the inter-connectivity of life forces from the cellular to the celestial; in particular the attraction, repulsion or grouping of objects, or bodies, due to electrical, magnetic, or chemical bonding.
"This collection of work is primarily forged through the abstraction of ideas using a variety of media. By using layers of paint, ink and metallic leaf, in combination with the use of typography, symbolism and cryptic coding, I have created a path by which like attracts like and bonds are formed, held or broken-much like our own life experiences."
