Welcome to the Noslen City Council! (It's Nelson spelled backwards... see what we did there?) It's election year in Noslen and the council office is heating up with drama in this improvised soap opera set in a fictional local NZ government that has absolutely nothing in common with the Nelson City Council... of course. Be a fly on the wall in the world's tiniest city council as they make decisions and see the chaos unfold between the building consent team (which is just a one person team), the communications manager who is in charge of fielding all calls from the one landline, and the two sitting city councillors who have constant opposing views. And what in the world does the External Relationships Logistics Coordination Manager even do? Will the IT guy ever make it big with his band and get out of this town? Will the Mayor get elected for another term? Come find out, even we don't know because it's all made up on the spot!
And as an added bonus.... One REAL candidate running in our local Nelson City Council elections will come and have a short debate with our fictional councillors each show. Don't miss it!
People's Republic of Improv is Nelson's premier improv troupe. Previously the in-house company of Ghost Light Theatre, they have now explored other venues since Ghost Light has sadly closed. In September they will be performing in Studio One, Rutherford Mews. The venue is in the alleyway off Hardy Street behind Golden Bell Thai Restaurant. Park on Hardy and walk on in.
