The Auckland Jazz Orchestra is Auckland's premier contemporary jazz big band, specialising exclusively in original music and NZ penned arrangements. In operation for almost a decade, the band draws from a pool of talented & experienced jazz musicians, composers and arrangers.
Caitlin Smith's extraordinary vocal range and expressiveness have lead to many fruitful collaborations with the AJO. This year, for the first time, they entered the studio together to record them for posterity.
For this concert, AJO will present music from their forthcoming CD with Caitlin, featuring fresh new arrangements of vocal jazz standards, and original compositions from Mike Booth, Tim Atkinson, and Caitlin Smith herself.
Expect a stunning night of vocal jazz delivered with flair & sensitivity.
