NCMA’s inaugural classical and flamenco guitar festival takes place at the recently re-opened Nelson Centre of Musical Arts state of the art facilities from Sunday 13th – Saturday 19th January 2019.

Each evening (from the 14th – 19th January) there will be a concert from the tutors including a special flamenco concert. The final concert on Saturday 19th January will feature the ensemble groups and the combined guitar orchestra.

Gunter Herbig will present a concert featuring both classical guitar and electric guitar: The first half of the concert will be on classical guitar with works by Barrios, Villla-Lobos and New Zealand Composer Bruce Paine.

The second half will be on electric guitar with Gunter’s own transcriptions of works by Armenian Composer George Gurdjieff and Arvo Pärt. A boundary-breaking recording of arrangements of Gurdjieff / de Hartmann piano music for the electric guitar which is planned for international release in late 2018.
