A presentation by Professor James Renwick who is an internationally recognised climate scientist and a gifted communicator, well known for his warmth, humour, and positivity, while being very clear about the seriousness of climate change. In 2018 he received the NZ Prime Minister’s Science Communication Prize.

He will address the current state of the changing climate, what future climate would look like with global temperature warming of 1.5C-2C degrees and beyond, how much time we have and what’s required to stop warming at 1.5 or 2 degrees.

Professor Renwick has worked in weather and climate research for 39 years and is Victoria University’s Head of School in Geography, Environment, and Earth Sciences. He has contributed to the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which informs global agreements on climate change action, and is currently a convening lead author for the next IPCC Assessment Report due in 2021.
