Andy Tranter, Pescatore chef de cuisine and Guilio Sturla chef-owner and creator of the much-loved Roots of Lyttelton are teaming up for a one-night dining experience. Partnering with Pescatore is Pyramid Valley Wines. Andy and Guilio have collaborated on a 6-course degustation menu with wines to match each course.

Those lucky enough to secure one of the spaces will enjoy a glass of Bollinger on arrival followed by the gorgeous wines Pyramid Valley have created in North Canterbury. Andy Tranter recently featured as a finalist in the San Pellegrino Young Chef of the Year. The finals were for Australia and New Zealand. Andy is now chef de cuisine for Christchurch’s only two-hatted restaurant, Pescatore.

Guilio Sturla is one of New Zealand’s most celebrated chefs today. Guilio’s restaurant Roots achieved many accolades including being the only restaurant achieving three hats outside of the Auckland CBD and was also named Chef of the Year in the 2018 Good Food Awards. Since Roots closure earlier this year Guilio is continuing his endeavours in the kitchen working on multiple projects around the country and overseas.

Such creative cuisine needs the perfect partner so Pyramid Valley Wines has teamed up with Pescatore to provide six exceptional wine matches to the six course degustation menu. After the founding vintners, Mike and Claudia Elze Weersing searched the world for the best place to grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay they settled on the unique site which is the Waikari Estate.

From there they produced remarkable wines for almost 20 years. In 2017 Steve Smith MW and Brian Sheth were honoured to take on the legacy of Pyramid Valley realising a long-held vision of creating impeccable wines and inspiring experiences they could share. Through their Appellation Collection, Pyramid Valley celebrate the skill and commitment of New Zealand’s best grape growers.

Working with vineyards and growers, Pyramid Valley craft wines that tell the story of their origin and display a spectacular sense of place. North Canterbury remains their hero appellation with four wines, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Orange and Pinot Noir.
