Read Kieran's bio below.
Kieran stood to be a Member of Parliament because of a genuine passion for his region and a desire to see it thrive. His family have lived in Wairarapa for 171 years, since his great-grandmother’s great-grandfather, Henry Burling, was the first settler in what is now Featherston.
He stood for Labour because of its commitment to regional New Zealand. Labour supports rural and regional areas like Wairarapa and backs our primary industries.
Kieran has been deeply involved in his community. Up until his election to Parliament he was a volunteer firefighter, and remains a board member of Wings over Wairarapa and Golden Shears and a trustee of the Masterton Community Trust.
Upon election to Parliament, Kieran was selected to be Junior Government Whip by the Labour party caucus. He is also Deputy Chair of the Primary Production Committee, and chairs Labour’s rural caucus group.
