2019 marks 100 years since the birth of New Zealand art legend Colin McCahon.

Join Peter Simpson, author of the newly released book Colin McCahon: There is Only One Direction, in conversation with Jim Barr, patron, writer and previous Director of The Dowse, about McCahon’s work and legacy.

McCahon’s significant work Through the Wall of Death: A Banner (1972) features in our new exhibition Solid Ground, which considers how artists from The Dowse collection have used place to explore the history, culture and environment of Aotearoa New Zealand.
