Explore German cooking and make a full German meal in four sessions, including Schnitzel, Spätzle and Sauerkraut, and the most famous German cake from the Black Forest: Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte!
Wurst, beer and pretzel for breakfast. Throw in some sauerkraut. And a piece of Black Forest Cake. That’s the extent of German cooking. Or is it?
Find out more about German specialities by making a full German meal plus dessert in four sessions, including classic pork Schnitzel and a popular, contemporary vegetarian (I know!) version, a versatile German pasta called Spätzle, the (in)famous but delicious and healthy Sauerkraut, and probably the most famous German cake from the Black Forest: Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte.
All ingredients included in the fee but bring an apron, dish cloth and tea towels and containers to take food home.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
- Recognise some traditional German dishes
- Pronounce some German dishes correctly
- Identify places where to buy ingredients
- Cook a German meal, including meat and two side dishes
- Prepare a German cake/dessert
We’ll also discuss variations of these dishes, various recipes, practise the pronunciation of the lovely long words and taste test a few other German goodies. Guten Appetit!
