Crafts Alive is back for another year providing local artists and craftspeople the opportunity to demonstrate their skills, share their knowledge with those looking to improve their skills, exhibit and sell completed works and help visitor’s trouble shoot problems they are having.
This is not an exhibition where people just come in and look at things, it’s an interactive event. Visitors will be able to ask how craftspeople make things, find out more about the crafts and learn to do it themselves and there will be opportunities for hands-on experience in trying some of the crafts. Stalls will include a variety of dynamic crafts from the traditional to the modern including jewellery making, doodling, glass fusion, lace making, and quilting, embroidery, knitting and crocheting to weaving, mosaics, rug making, leatherwork, handmade paper, woodcarving, and even upcycled furniture.
Is your craft cupboard bursting at the seams? Every year Crafts Alive has a Recycled Crafts stall where both stall holders and members of the public can donate craft items no longer required. Then for a donation you can take home someone else's donation to start of a new project or add to a work in progress. So bring along any items you no longer have a use for and keep your eyes out something new. This year proceeds from this stall will go to the Marton Players Theatre who put on a range of productions during the year, offer costume hire and provide a venue for the very popular Open Mic Night.
Entry is by gold coin donation and more information can be obtained by visiting the Crafts Alive Facebook page or by calling Project Marton on 06 3277633.
